Lorna Landvik, nationally known author and locally known actor/playwright presents an annual solo improvisation show on the Bryant-Lake Bowl stage through the end of January. From the moment she steps on stage, Landvik creates interesting and energetic audience-suggested characters, complete with costumes and props. Wigs, facial hair and 70s rec room items add to the fun as do her Ellen-worthy dance moves and margaritas made on stage for audience members. In short, she is a one-woman Minnesota party!

From 17 year-old Heidi, to a monopolizing cowboy, to a fingernail-chewing Michelle Bachmann, Landvik infused each character with personality and accents to match. The sound design, including the funny and effective sound effects courtesy of Wendy Smith in the booth, kept the energy high and was a nice mix of new music and older classics.

Landvik has written 10 novels; her newest, Best to Laugh, is on shelves now.

Party in the Rec Room presented by Lorna Landvik at Bryant-Lake Bowl Theatre at 810 W. Lake St, Minneapolis. Show runs Friday and Saturday evenings through January 31, 2015. Tickets: $15 in advance, $18 day of show, can be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1017471.
