Based off of the beloved young adult fantasy novel, “Dealing With Dragons” by Patricia Wrede, this original adaptation by Jenna Papke is made for those who love the book and those who have never heard of it before alike! Phantom Chorus Theatre in collaboration with Arts Nest, brings this story to life in the most creative and inventive ways. Going in, I don’t know what I was expecting, but it sure wasn’t the larger than life dragons inhabiting the set. The spectacular puppetry of the actors and crew makes these dragons feel like real characters. And the inventive sets bring you to location after location like you’re truly traveling the kingdom. Glow in the dark props, colorful costumes, and projector show a guarenteed to keep the kids entertained.
We follow Princess Cimorene as she charts her own course in life, choosing to become a dragon’s princess instead of having to get married. And even though she has many knights and suiters come to her rescue, she always finds clever ways to send them all away. Cimorene meets many people over the course of her journey who tell her that the ways she’s doing things, “Simply isn’t done“, but does it her way none the less.
The cast of Phantom Chorus Theatre will make everyone of all ages laugh along to this wonderful story of friendship and adventure.
